I’m posting 65daysofstatic, but this is also kinda about Russian Circles. Because I saw that Russian Circles is touring Europe and is doing a show in Glasgow while I’m here in support of their new album. I haven’t actually heard their last 2 albums, so I gave both of them a listen through. I wasn’t really impressed. Their first album is really the only one I particularly enjoy (and it is actually one of my all-time favourites).
And that reminded me of 65daysofstatic, because the same thing happened with them, although to a more gradual extent. I did like a good portion of their second album, just not as much as their first. But after that things really went downhill.
This is a live version of one of my favourite songs from their first album, “Fix The Sky A Little.” So much emotion in this song, and such a buildup.
So I got back to thinking about Russian Circles, and although I was excited at first to learn they were performing here, now I don’t think I want to go. I wanted to see them live years ago, in support of their first album.
And similarly, a month ago I was hoping I’d get a chance to see 65daysofstatic perform, since they are from the UK and all. But then I realized, no I don’t. I wanted to see them live 5 years ago, not now. I don’t care about their music now.
I support bands changing/evolving their sound, and sometimes they change for the better (Tool), but other times… I guess I’ll just enjoy what they left me.
